“I hereby rule that the prosecution effectively discharged the burden of proof on it. This appeal is devoid of any basis and accordingly fails.
“The judgment of the High Court is hereby affirmed, and the conviction imposed on the appellant, (which is death by hanging) is also affirmed,”...........Justice Fatimo Akinbami who read the judgment

The general overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly in Lagos was sentenced to death by a Lagos high court after he was arraigned on September 26, 2006 on a six-count charge of attempted murder and murder.

The controversial cleric had reportedly poured petrol on Uzoh and five others and set them on fire leading to the death of Uzoh and serious injuries to the others. King was convicted and sentenced to death by hanging for the murder charge and 20 years imprisonment for the attempted murder charges.

Reverend King who was convicted of killing a church member will die by hanging, so says Nigerian apex court, the Supreme Court

The cleric was sentenced to death by a Lagos court but King appealed the ruling up to the Supreme Court.

As a last resort, King approached the Supreme Court to get the conviction overturned.

My Take and the moral lesson we must not forget in the whole storylines is that, the vehicle of justice may move slowly but it is sure. Another lesson is that, the mill of God may grind slowly but it grind surely.

Our society is full of charlatans, hypocrites, wicked men, wolves in the sheep clothing, agents of darkness disguising as the agents of light. Many who cannot read between lines, the ignoramus, men and women who cannot use their brain but suspended it, allowed these charlatans to think for them always fall as a prey and victims.

Where do we go from here? And I am still expecting the reaction of the gullible who always shout touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm. Nobody is above the law and crime is crime, anywhere, at anytime.

There are myriad of merchant preachers, miracle preachers and many in the name of God Plc. in Nigeria that need to be cut to size, reduce their influence, and place them where they belong. Any community, society or nation who has characters like this within the polity, is a society on its way to perdition.
