COMMUNAL LIVING....
One common thing that characterized growing up in my generation was communal living. Back then everyone living on the same street knew each other. In fact, it was not difficult spotting any child involved in mischievous activities because most people were either acquainted with your parents or your siblings. Loving your neighbor was a way of life, it made people more accountable and getting help from your neighbor was easier.
This is not so prevalent these days; our society has experienced some level
of development and in the process lost a number of communal values such as
being our brothers' keeper. Today, we live such private lives; we hardly even know our next door neighbors' name not to talk of identifying the children. That not ought to be. You see, life is all about relationships no man is an island, we cannot live in isolation. At one time or another, we need help and it is the help we have rendered to others that will speak for us when we need it.
So do you show love in your neighborhood? What impression do people have of you on your street? Are you cordial and helpful? Do you have a reputation of
being peaceful and law abiding? Do you pay your monthly dues? I want to encourage you to take responsibility in your neighborhood and be a problem solver. Our success in life is tied to helping others and it is the degree to which we love others that we can experience love in return.
