REV KING: THE MAN WHO ACT LIVE HORROR FILM....... By Dotun George

“I hereby rule that the prosecution effectively discharged the burden of proof on it. This appeal is devoid of any basis and accordingly fails.
“The judgment of the High Court is hereby affirmed, and the conviction imposed on the appellant, (which is death by hanging) is also affirmed,”...........Justice Fatimo Akinbami who read the judgment

The general overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly in Lagos was sentenced to death by a Lagos high court after he was arraigned on September 26, 2006 on a six-count charge of attempted murder and murder.

The controversial cleric had reportedly poured petrol on Uzoh and five others and set them on fire leading to the death of Uzoh and serious injuries to the others. King was convicted and sentenced to death by hanging for the murder charge and 20 years imprisonment for the attempted murder charges.

Reverend King who was convicted of killing a church member will die by hanging, so says Nigerian apex court, the Supreme Court

The cleric was sentenced to death by a Lagos court but King appealed the ruling up to the Supreme Court.

As a last resort, King approached the Supreme Court to get the conviction overturned.

My Take and the moral lesson we must not forget in the whole storylines is that, the vehicle of justice may move slowly but it is sure. Another lesson is that, the mill of God may grind slowly but it grind surely.

Our society is full of charlatans, hypocrites, wicked men, wolves in the sheep clothing, agents of darkness disguising as the agents of light. Many who cannot read between lines, the ignoramus, men and women who cannot use their brain but suspended it, allowed these charlatans to think for them always fall as a prey and victims.

Where do we go from here? And I am still expecting the reaction of the gullible who always shout touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm. Nobody is above the law and crime is crime, anywhere, at anytime.

There are myriad of merchant preachers, miracle preachers and many in the name of God Plc. in Nigeria that need to be cut to size, reduce their influence, and place them where they belong. Any community, society or nation who has characters like this within the polity, is a society on its way to perdition.

CURBING THE EXCESSES OF FULANI HERDSMEN..... By Dotun George

The Benue State Governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom, has lamented that the killings currently going on in Agatu Local Government Area of his state is getting out of hand.
He said the situation, which had led to the death of many people and the destruction of several settlements, had degenerated.

My Take.............

SHOCK, disbelief and anger yesterday trailed the alleged killing of hundreds of persons in four Agatu communities in Benue State by marauding Fulani herdsmen and militiamen.

In a society, or state where the chief security officer appeared to be helpless and cry for help when he should be one that should provide all the necessary help to salvage the ugly situation, that is a society on its way to precipice. We have a deficient system at hand, the state Governors are refers to as chief security officer of their states but unfortunately they are not in control of the state security apparatus at their disposal. That on its own calls for concern and reform.

Our deficient system and structure provided space for state commissioner of police but the commissioner does not take order from the Governor, only from the Inspector General of Police in Abuja.

One of the potential danger and threat that we must do something on as quick as we can as a nation, is to curb the excesses and over zealousness of these Fulani herdsmen. The invasion of Fulani herdsmen into villages and communities, and killings of the natives has been going on for years in our country and it seems that those that should do something look away or appear to be helpless.

Decentralization and devolution of power, enacting the law that will give us state police and proper equipment of all the state security apparatus will go along way to salvage the ugly situation. And again, government should be looking at the direction of providing a grazing fields for these Fulani herdsmen within their territories.
Plateau state, Benue and some few other states have become a victim over the years. It is high time we take a bold step to end wastages, violence and carnage going on across the country.

FINDING A WAY FORWARD BETWEEN THE PAST AND THE FUTURE... By Dotun George

It is too simplistic to point to today’s oil glut or foreign exchange scarcity as our problem. Of course, there are many other countries that had gone through recession. America did. United Kingdom did. But, while the bad times lasted, the citizens of those countries never saw it that they had existential problems. They just said, “We are in a recession; we shall get out of it!”

You see, when Nigeria had the dollars raining down from crude oil exports, many of the people who should be developing our economy were not doing it. They were busy enjoying the free money that oil brought. Today we are all paying dearly for their sins, cluelessness, wickedness and corrupt practices that became the trademark of our country.

Nigeria’s problem is caused by all of us. On an individual level, we all have Nigeria-killer microchips embedded in us. For some, it is the ethnic bias or religious bigotry. And for others, it is pure greed. In all, the individual comes first in consideration before the nation.

One of the reasons why Nigerians across the nation was furious with PDP and kicked Jonathan Good luck out was the wasted 16 years of disaster, retrogress, economic woes and fraud, corruption and looting that we witnessed on a large scale. In the Jonathan era, corruption was the order of the day. When you steal and loot the national treasury, you will be given national honour, that is the well done job for being smart enough to defraud your country.  Now we are in a new era and the political terrain appeared to be different from the past. Lawlessness, corruption, crime, indiscipline, wastages are being tackled with all seriousness. Now the real victims of the old systems that have not avail us are crying more than the bereaved, that those who messed up yesterday and being prosecuted today are seen to be persecuted and witch hunt, that is a tragedy of a nation.

There is no problem without solution, we have a government for the first in our history who is ready to do the needful. Then if this government must succeed, it has to be firm on its decision to salvage and clear the mess of the past. Change is always difficult to effect, yet we must not just in to criticism when it comes to anti corruption. Let the wailer cry till eternity, looters must be made to face the music and vomit all they have looted. Without recovery of our stolen wealth from all the yam eaters who ate our yams without restrictions, there is no economic recovery and no way forward.

The budget mafias and evil servants in various ministries who were involved in the budget paddling must be made to face the wrath of the law. This is the practice that have been going on in this country since 2001 and now that the new order says no to it, there must be scapegoats to prevent others from continue in the same old order.

We must redefine our national policies and strategy to meet our current challenges and chat a new path for the future and the new Nigeria we are yearning for. Government must work round the clock to strengthen our institutions. One the bane of our nation is the failure and decline of our institutions. Let us begin to build strong institutions, the strong and formidable institutions will produce strong men and women.

Righteousness, integrity, uprightness, honesty, diligence, discipline, exalt any nation, but sin, corruption, budget paddling, looting, dishonesty, lying propaganda, violence, wastages and disunity are reproach to any nation.

COMMUNAL LIVING....... By Dotun George

COMMUNAL LIVING....

One common thing that characterized growing up in my generation was communal living. Back then everyone living on the same street knew each other. In fact, it was not difficult spotting any child involved in mischievous activities because most people were either acquainted with your parents or your siblings. Loving your neighbor was a way of life, it made people more accountable and getting help from your neighbor was easier.

This is not so prevalent these days; our society has experienced some level
of development and in the process lost a number of communal values such as
being our brothers' keeper. Today, we live such private lives; we hardly even know our next door neighbors' name not to talk of identifying the children. That not ought to be. You see, life is all about relationships no man is an island, we cannot live in isolation. At one time or another, we need help and it is the help we have rendered to others that will speak for us when we need it.

So do you show love in your neighborhood? What impression do people have of you on your street? Are you cordial and helpful? Do you have a reputation of
being peaceful and law abiding? Do you pay your monthly dues? I want to encourage you to take responsibility in your neighborhood and be a problem solver. Our success in life is tied to helping others and it is the degree to which we love others that we can experience love in return.

IT'S TIME TO BREAK THE MOULD........ By Dotun George

IT'S TIME TO BREAK THE MOULD..........

The world’s longest ocean bridge is located in China. It spans 26 miles and took four years to build. It cost more than $1.5 billion to complete and has a life expectancy of 100 years.
The second Niger bridge in Onitsha that is a mere 1.5 kilometres (about one mile) is costing N100 billion , that is over $500 million.

Maybe we should invite the Chinese to come and build the fourth Lagos Mainland Bridge for us and let us pay tolls for 100 years.
The same China built 30,000 megawatts of electricity for $29 billion while we have spent over $50 billion on darkness.
The Chinese have approximately 3.35 million kilometres of first class motorable public roads, while Nigeria has built 34,340.90 kilometres of semi-motorable public roads in 56 years......... Gbolabo Ogunsanwo.

I have said it in the past but I am putting it up again, that something fundamental, psychological, spiritual is wrong with the black race, especially Africans, Nigeria and Nigerians in particular.

Most time, the way people behave, conduct themselves, the character of men in power, display of foolishness and wastages that is going on Nigeria appear to me that, Africans, especially Nigeria behave as if there is a spell cast on them.
The legislative abuse, confusion, corruption, insensitiveness, laziness and what have you is the same over the years.
Recklessness and arrogance of power by everyone entrusted with power in all strata of power our national life is the same, just with the exception of few.

Life here in Africa, especially among Nigerians is life upside down, we glorified absurdity, abnormalities, corrupt practices and tendencies, we love deception, we value the mundane things of life, we are now the specimen of bad, the wrong and negativity across the world, ranging from bad governance, bad life style, poor human relation, poor community building and development, poor social and spiritual value and depreciating legacy.

We are not like this before, we started well, we are better than this, history taught us that we have a very good beginning but today we only live on the shadow of the past glories. Its time to redeem our past glory and salvage our future.

This mould must be broken down, that is the mould that is producing all the negativity that have characterized life in Nigeria. We must destroy the script we are reading and acting now. We can rewrite the scripts of our lives, we can now begin to act a new role and search for differ actors. If the mould is not destroyed and the scripts is not burnt into ashes, the next generation is doomed already.
